Ortho Q&A

What will happen at my first appointment?

Your first appointment is approximately 30 minutes in duration, it is just to have a chat, we will not be fitting any appliances at this session!

At this stage we will use the time to assess your problems, discuss the treatment options available to you and the best time for you to start treatment. We will also take into account your own concerns, your dental and facial development and your oral hygiene.

If you are not ready to start treatment, you will be reviewed at a later date. If you are ready to start immediately, we will make an appointment to take dental records which include dental study models, photographs and x-rays.

Will there be a charge for my first consultation?

Yes, there will be a £50 charge for your initial visit.

What type of appliance will I need?

This will depend on the problems you have with your teeth and jaws. Your dentist will advise you which options are available.

How long will treatment take?

Treatment times are different depending on the type of treatment you need. Your dentist will discuss this with you during your consultation.

Does having orthopaedic or orthodontic treatment hurt?

No, but you can normally expect your teeth or gums to feel tender for the first few days after having your appliance fitted and also following your routine adjustments.

Can I choose the colour of my appliance?

Yes, you can choose the colour and design of your appliance, making it one of a kind.

Can I have invisible or tooth coloured braces?

Yes, invisible or tooth coloured braces look great and both are available at Roseneath.

I am over 18 – am I too old to get my teeth straightened?

No, you are never too old to have your teeth straightened. We have many patients in their 20's and 30's and many a good deal older! Our dentists have a long history of treating adults, with great success.

What are the possible benefits of treatment?
